The Princess and the Pea

One of my favorite princess stories is that of The Princess and the Pea. It is one of those stories that is quirky and silly. It does not make a lot of sense and I think that is what I love most about it.
How would the old queen know that a pea would show whether or not the princess was truly a princess? Why a pea? How did she feel it through all of those mattresses and blankets?
All these questions make the story all the more fairytale like and interesting for me.

My daughter just turned 4, so for her birthday I decided that we would have a themed photoshoot this year. She has a new interest in princesses (before it was superheros). I bought this beautiful gown over at So Cuddly Creations.
Go check out her Etsy shop, she has some truly beautiful gowns as well as headbands and baby products.
The gown is completely handmade and the nicest part about it is that it has a soft inner lining.
Unlike a lot of dresses you buy in store, it is NOT itchy for your child to wear (huge bonus)!

"In the middle of the storm somebody knocked at the town gate, and the old King himself sent to open it.
It was a princess who stood outside, but she was in a terrible state from the rain and the storm. The water streamed out of her hair and her clothes; it ran in at the top of her shoes and out at the heel, but she said that she was a real princess."

"The Old Queen saw at once that she must be a real princess. Only a real princess could have felt the pea through twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds.

So the prince asked her to be his wife, sure that he had found a real princess."

The Princess plucked the pea from her mattress and finally fell asleep!

I would be doing a happy dance as well if I could finally fall asleep after that silly old pea!
